Dr Mansfield qualified in medicine at Oxford in 1987 and after his house officer posts moved to Yorkshire for his postgraduate training. His research interests are the haemostatic and familial aspects of insulin resistance on which he has published several original papers as a member of the Academic Unit of Molecular Vascular Medicine in Leeds. He received his DM from Oxford University in 1998. Since 2000 he has been consultant physician at St James’s University Hospital in Leeds where his clinical interests are diabetic renal disease, lipid disorders, complex diabetes and general medicine.
