The DRWF jolly joggers completed the British London 10K run on Sunday 12th July and ran home for diabetes despite sweltering July temperatures and a good dose of sore knees too!
The race took place in central London an
d the 10K route took in some famous sights including Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament along the way. Around 26,000 runners took part this year.
The winning runner finished in half an hour but the DRWF team accumulated some pretty impressive times too.
Sarah Bone, CEO, Jenny Diment and Anne-Marie Causer all finished in one hour nine minutes, along with Robert Porter, CEO, of our sister charity in Germany who completed the course in a respectable one hour and five. Andrew Dixon from the office finished the race in an impressive 51 minutes, putting us all to shame!
Sarah Bone, CEO, says ‘It is always inspiring so see so many people running for charity and in memory of loved ones, the atmosphere was fantastic. Team DRWF raised more then £1700 and a big thanks should go to our runners and supporters’.
DRWF would also like to thank our team of jolly joggers who not only cried blood sweat and tears on the day, but managed really good times in the race too - Mark Tutton, Ross Cooper, Dan Cake, Jason Dancer, John Sturgess and Martin Cake – Thank you for your support. Our best wishes for a speedy recovery also go to Ingrid Porter who was unable to run on the day due to injury.
DRWF are already recruiting runners for the 2010 race, so please register your interest now. Additionally, to spur the DRWF team on next year, please consider coming along on the day – your support and encouragement along the race route is really important!
