To mark World Diabetes Day on Saturday 14 November this year, DRWF will be throwing open their doors to the public to provide people with more information about the condition.
The drop in open morning is for people with diabetes and those that have been affected by the condition. Why not pop in for a cup of coffee, pick up a goody bag and have a chat with the DRWF team to find out more about the support they can offer you. It is free to attend and will run from 9.00am until 12pm.
Supporters can also help bring diabetes to light on 14 November by purchasing and lighting a World Diabetes Day candle in the home, workplace, or anywhere else. Specially produced by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) to encourage individuals to raise global awareness of diabetes on the day, the candle comes in the distinctive blue colour of the World Diabetes Day logo. Order your candle from the World Diabetes Day website: www.worlddiabetesday.org
The Diabetes Research & Wellness Foundation (DRWF) network of charities and not-for-profit organisations are also raising awareness to World Diabetes Day this year via direct mail in the UK, US, France, Germany and Sweden. More than 700,000 packs containing information about World Diabetes Day and the global impact of diabetes are scheduled to be distributed in the run up to the day.
