Association of Medical Research Charities Membership
DRWF is a member of the Association of Medical Research Charities, together with 111 other charities funding medical research in the UK. As a member we fulfil AMRC’s criteria for the use of peer review for allocating funding and support AMRC position statements on the payment of indirect costs in universities and the use of animals in medical research.
The AMRC has a combined annual expenditure on UK medical research exceeding £600 million. Undertaken in hospitals, universities and institutes, this work involves investigation of health problems across the spectrum, from childhood illnesses to Alzheimer’s disease, cancer to heart disease, neurological and mental illness, infections which pose serious risks, especially in poorer countries, and accidental injury.
Rigorous Peer Review Process
As an AMRC member we operate a rigorous peer review process, by which experts in the field of diabetes assess applications and reports to ensure that only the highest quality and most effective research receives DRWF funding. AMRC members are also required to ensure that the researchers they fund use good practice in their working methods.
DRWF awarded Certificate of Best Practice in Peer Review 2006. Click here.
