Educational diabetes event at Hartlepool to coincide with World Diabetes Day in November.

This year DRWF are working closely with the Hartlepool Diabetes Support Group to provide a morning of information and support to help you manage and improve your diabetes in conjunction with World Diabetes Day.

Managing and living with diabetes can be a challenge and we invite you to join us for a morning of diabetes information and to learn more about the condition.

The DRWF Diabetes Wellness Morning will be held at the National Museum of the Royal Navy, Hartlepool on Saturday, 11th November from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

The morning will provide an opportunity ask healthcare professionals your questions and meet other people living with diabetes over tea and sandwiches.

25 years of DRWF

As DRWF this year celebrates its 25th anniversary, we have combined our usual programme of Diabetes Wellness Days into a landmark event, the Big Diabetes Wellness Day, entitled United Through Diabetes. This unique educational event invites all DRWF supporters and the wider diabetes community to join us for this special occasion, as we recognise a quarter century of commitment to diabetes awareness, education and research.

However, we know not everyone can travel and we did not want to leave our friends in the North East without their annual Diabetes Wellness Day, so we are working with DRWF volunteer Hayley Hakansson at the Hartlepool Diabetes Support Group and our colleagues at the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust to put on a morning of information and friendship for your enjoyment.

What can I expect at the meeting?

Tea and coffee will be served on arrival.

Diabetes Specialist Nurse Julie Sinclair will take questions in a Q&A hour.

A presentation on using devices such as blood-glucose meters, sensors and other options, including ketone testing and more.

A lunch of sandwiches and nibbles will be served later in the morning.

Registration

Booking is £5 per person to attend and includes unlimited tea and coffee, lunch, delegate bag and free parking.

World Diabetes Day

World Diabetes Day is held every year on 14th November, the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, who co-discovered insulin along with Charles Best more than 100 years ago.
