Andrew Tegala donned his running shoes at the weekend in memory of his uncle and in aid of the Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation.
Despite the heat, he ran the Bayer Newbury 10K run on Sunday 1 May in an hour and five minutes.
He says, 'The run went well considering the hot weather! My time was a little bit slower than I had been aiming for but considering the climate, it was a good attempt'.
For Andrew, pictured above with his parents before the race, diabetes is a cause close to his heart. His uncle, Raj Kumar Bali passed away in June 2006 from complications related to his diabetes. He had diabetes for over ten years but lived in India where the care was low quality and expensive.
Supporters will be aware that DRWF fund research in both the UK and abroad. The money he raises will be coming directly to DRWF to help support people with diabetes and fund research into treatments and an ultimate cure for the condition.
Andrew has raised £165 so far for DRWF and you can still donate to the charity through his justgiving page here
DRWF would like to thank Andrew for his kind support!
