DRWF supporter, Charlotte Leadbeater, tells DRWF that a fun walk for charity recently in Llandeilo, South Wales, raised over £3000 for diabetes charities.
The walk took place in Dinefwr Park, Castle Woods and Llandeilo Town culminating in an afternoon tea and entertainment at the Civic Hall.
Prayers for a rain free day were answered and over 50 walkers took part including Julie Oaten, a Diabetes Specialist Nurse from Llandeilo. Some walkers had come from as far afield as Swansea!
The walk was partly organised by Ramblers with steward assistance from the local Rotary and Round Table groups. Walkers were enlightened about Dinefwr Park en route by Councillor Roy Davies.
Walkers were able to enjoy the views of the park together with ancient Llandyfesant Church and Castle Woods, managed by the Woodland and National Trust.
After the walk, another 48 guests joined the walkers at the Civic Hall for a special afternoon tea. Guests were treated to tenor and artist, Andrew Douglas Forbes, singing ‘Puccini Arias’ and a talk on managing diabetes by Janet Tomas, the senior Diabetes Specialist Nurse from Glangweli.
DRWF would like to extend our thanks to Charlotte and all involved. The monies raised from the day will be split between DRWF and Diabetes Cymru.
