Diabetes Wellness Day Midlands
DRWF are delighted to be returning to Warwickshire for the 3rd annual Diabetes Wellness Day Midlands on Sunday, 6th October 2019.
The wonderful 4* Chesford Grange on the banks of the River Avon is the perfect setting for this unique event, with its historic charm, contemporary style and excellent transport links. Its central location between Warwick, Stratford-upon-Avon, Birmingham and Coventry make it easily accessible to people across the whole region. Just minutes away from the M40 and M69, with more than 250 free parking spaces, Shakespeare’s historic Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick Castle only a stones-throw away, nearby bus and train stations and no weekend city centre traffic to contend with, we couldn’t be in a better place.
The Diabetes Wellness Day Midlands will bring together a wealth of information under one roof for people living with all forms of diabetes. Family members, friends and carers and those with an interest in diabetes are also encouraged to take part. The day will provide you with the tools, knowledge and practical skills needed to improve life with diabetes and the keys to healthier living. The day is designed to ensure all participants have the opportunity to raise their questions, share their experiences and enjoy the support of a friendly, like-minded diabetes community in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
So, why not join DRWF and the specialist diabetes teams from Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust for this Quality in Care Diabetes award winning 3rd Annual Diabetes Wellness Day Midlands.
Watch people with diabetes talk about why they attend Diabetes Wellness Days here:
Each year we work together with our NHS colleagues to provide a programme that focuses on the many key areas that affect people living with diabetes. This year’s programme will be announced soon and once again the talks we choose will run as satellite sessions and be repeated throughout the day, giving everyone the chance to take part in the sessions that interest them the most.
In addition to the talks we will have a vibrant exhibition area, giving you the opportunity to visit the stands and chat with a variety of experts and healthcare professionals from specialist diabetes teams across the Midlands who will be on hand to offer advice on diet, health, lifestyle and the latest blood-glucose meters and diabetes related products and services. There will also be holistic practitioners, community groups, screening services and experts from the diabetes diagnostic companies offering advice on diet, health, lifestyle and the latest blood-glucose meters, insulin pumps and diabetes related products and services.
As well as the programme of talks, you will be able to take part in other activities, such as exercise taster classes, cookery demonstrations, research updates and the chance to learn more about how to use social media to enhance your diabetes self-management and how to become part of the wider online diabetes community.
“I attended the Diabetes Wellness Day with my wife to learn more about living with diabetes, new drugs and treatments, tips and advice. To put it straight to the point, I was amazed at how much I learned. It has helped me see so many new ways of assisting my wife to keep her diabetes under control and in seeking support from our diabetes team. Thank you for all your help and we look forward very much to seeing you all next year.”
