Diabetes Wellness Day South
DRWF are delighted to be returning to Whiteley for the 11th annual Diabetes Wellness Day South on Saturday, 11th May 2019.
Join DRWF and the specialist diabetes teams from Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Solent NHS Trust, Southampton and Portsmouth University Hospitals and the West Hampshire Community Diabetes Service this summer for the Quality in Care Diabetes award winning 11th Annual Diabetes Wellness Day South.
We are delighted to return to the fantastic 4* Solent Hotel at Whiteley for this year’s Diabetes Wellness Day South. The Solent Hotel is the ideal setting for this unique event with its warm and inviting style, great hospitality and excellent transport links. Its central location between the cities of Portsmouth, Southampton and other major towns also make it easily accessible to people from across the whole southern region. With over 250 free parking spaces, Whiteley Shopping Village a stones-throw away, nearby bus and train stations and no weekend city centre traffic to contend with, we couldn’t be in a better place.
Watch people with diabetes at the Diabetes Wellness Day South talk about why they believe research is important here:
The Diabetes Wellness Day South will bring together a wealth of information under one roof for people living with all forms of Diabetes. Family members, friends and carers and those with an interest in diabetes are also encouraged to take part. The day will provide you with the tools, knowledge and practical skills needed to improve life with diabetes and the keys to healthier living. The day is designed to ensure all participants have the opportunity to raise their questions, share their experiences and enjoy the support of a friendly, like-minded diabetes community in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
“I learned more at your day than I have learned in the last fourteen years living with my diabetes. Thank you for such a great day and your time.” - Mr D. Woolston, Bournemouth
Each year we work together with our NHS colleagues and local healthcare providers to put on a programme that focuses on the many key areas that affect people living with diabetes. This year’s programme will be announced soon and once again the talks will run as multiple sessions and be repeated throughout the day, giving everyone the chance to take part in the sessions that interest them the most.
In addition to the talks we will have a vibrant exhibition area, giving you the opportunity to visit the stands and chat with a variety of experts and healthcare professionals from specialist diabetes teams across Portsmouth, Southampton and Hampshire who will be on hand to offer advice on diet, health, lifestyle and the latest blood-glucose meters and diabetes related products and services. There will also be holistic practitioners, community groups, screening services and experts from the diabetes diagnostic companies offering advice on diet, health, lifestyle and the latest blood-glucose meters, insulin pumps and diabetes related products and services.
DRWF is able to subsidise the cost of attendance as part of the charity’s annual educational event programme. We ask for a registration fee of £5 per person, to help with the costs of running the event. The registration fee includes the full programme of talks and activities, access to the exhibition hall, all-day refreshments, lunch and free parking.
