DRWF Events: Diabetes Wellness Day North cancelled

In light of the ongoing Covid-19 health crisis DRWF announce the upcoming Diabetes Wellness Day North will be cancelled.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, we have reluctantly decided to cancel this year's Diabetes Wellness Day North.

The event to be held at the National Museum of the Royal Navy, Hartlepool on 14th November will no longer take place. This is doubly sad as this year’s event was scheduled to coincide with World Diabetes Day.

Lee Calladine, DRWF Event Coordinator, said: “This was not a decision we made lightly, but our utmost duty must be the absolute safety of our delegates and colleagues, and so the decision has been made that the event will not go ahead for 2020.

“However, we will return in 2021 to mark the 10th Anniversary of this popular event, the 100th anniversary of the discovery of insulin and World Diabetes Day. We hope you will join us at The National Museum of the Royal Navy Hartlepool where we look forward to welcoming you and resuming the fantastic programme we had planned for this November.”

We are sure you understand this decision and we look forward to your continued support.

Sarah Tutton, Chief Executive at DRWF, said: “Like all charities, we are currently reviewing all of our activities in light of the enormous challenges that COVID-19 presents.

“We have not taken the decision lightly to cancel any of our events but do so within government and public health guidelines and with the best interests of our supporters and beneficiaries at heart.

“Right now, we are all incredibly worried about the Covid-19 pandemic. We are making changes to our everyday lives to reflect a rapidly changing environment.

“We will continue to do everything we can to protect DRWF staff and volunteers and deliver the support that our beneficiaries need – this may look very different in the way in which we delivery our messages and activities, but we will do whatever it takes to continue offering our support to you, in a way that is accessible.

“Please let us know if we can help and we will do our very best.”

Details about next year's Diabetes Wellness Day North will be announced on our website, social media pages and in the DRWF monthly newsletter, Diabetes Wellness News, when available, so watch this space...
