Three DRWF-funded researchers have been included in the UK’s 25 most influential diabetes researchers.

The Top experts for diabetes complications has been compiled by Expertscape and The Diabetes Times and based on the impact of the research published by the authors

The list aims to celebrate both leading researchers and institutions in the field of diabetes complications.

Among those included are previously DRWF-funded researchers Professor Michael Edmonds, Professor of Diabetic Foot Medicine, King’s College College and Professor Luigi Gnudi, Professor of Diabetes and Metabolic Medicine, University of London and member of the DRWF Research Advisory Board. Professor Alan Stitt, School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences, Queen’s University Belfast and former member of the DRWF Research Advisory Board was also featured.

Dr Eleanor Kennedy, DRWF Research Manager was delighted that three of the best researchers into the complications of diabetes have been recognised this way.

Dr Kennedy said: “We really cover the gamut of complications here – Professor Edmonds works in diabetic foot disease, Professor Gnudi in diabetic kidney disease and Professor Stitt in retinopathy. And to have all of these researchers not just being recognised for excellence in their respective fields but working with or being funded by DRWF is testament to how we strive to ensure that the research we fund is of the very highest level.”

The team at DRWF would like to offer our congratulations to these researchers for all their hard work.
