Christmas time can be a time of indulgence and there may be times when your blood glucose levels could be higher than normal.

However, it is important to remember that one or two high readings should not affect your diabetes in the long term.

Mindful eating and drinking over the festive period helps you have a more enjoyable experience - after all, ’tis the season to be jolly!

From 1st December DRWF has been following the adventures of Santa’s elf helper Bestlan Edelweiss as he looks to keep his diabetes in check over the festive period.

So far Bestlan has joined his best friend (and bad influence) Seesic Threadbare, to watch their favourite film, Elf.

And when feeling poorly Bestlan was able to consult the DRWF diabetes information leaflet Managing diabetes when you are ill.

Bestlan has also paid a visit to the DRWF Human Islet Isolation Facility at the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism (OCDEM), Churchill Hospital, Oxford.

Who knows what he will get up to next?

You can find out by following his adventures through DRWF social media pages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
