Living with type 1 diabetes has not prevented Shane Board from living a fulfilling life.
Since being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 10, Shane Board has worked tirelessly in his fundraising efforts to support others with the condition, while also proving to other young people with diabetes that having a lifelong condition does not have to stop you from living a fulfilling life.
Despite his own health issues Shane has always put others first in his fundraising mission and by raising awareness of type 1 diabetes.
In addition to running his own IT company, Shane is a musician and his song lyrics regularly include reference to living with something but never letting it stop you following your dreams. All proceeds from sales of his original music are donated to charity each year.
In recognition of his hard work Shane has been nominated for a Positive Role Model award in the National Diversity Awards.
In recent years Shane has been a huge support to DRWF with various fundraising campaigns donating money to the charity, via the work of Pop4Diabetes - a non-profit fundraising organisation that works hard to raise funds for continuing research into finding a cure for type 1 diabetes.
