Time is running out to vote for your most inspiring educators in diabetes healthcare - as the deadline to nominate for this year’s Quality in Care Diabetes Awards fast approaches.

The Quality in Care Diabetes Awards recognise and award innovative practice and quality in diabetes management, education and services for people with diabetes and their families, throughout the UK.

The closing date for entries is Wednesday, 31st July

The awards recognise people working in diabetes and help to identify innovations and innovators from the NHS, charities and industry to highlight how different areas of patient care and diabetes service are delivered to a wider healthcare audience.

Entries are invited from anyone working in the diabetes arena in the UK and Ireland.

Among this year’s entry categories new awards for Mind and Body Healthy Together – Emotional Wellbeing Programmes for People with Diabetes and Diabetes Education Programmes – Healthcare Professionals and People with Diabetes. In addition there are nomination categories for: Outstanding Educator in Diabetes, Diabetes Professional of the Year and the People’s Award.

Entry forms for this year’s awards are open now on the Quality in Care Diabetes website.

The ninth annual Quality in Care Diabetes Awards will be held on Thursday, 17th October at Sanofi UK and Ireland headquarters in Reading.

Siobhan Thwaites, Quality in Care Diabetes Project Manager, said: “Finalists are invited to come together each year providing a unique opportunity to be with and to be recognised by fellow professionals. Thank you for sharing your work by entering QiC Diabetes and we wish you every success.

“Entries are invited from anyone working in the diabetes arena throughout the UK and Ireland. Whatever the area of patient care, if your initiative or programme relates to diabetes in any way, you should enter it. Judges are keen to review a wide spectrum of entries and recognise the innovative practice that we know is out there.”

Professor Jonathan Valabhji OBE, National Clinical Director for Obesity and Diabetes, NHS England, said: “QiC Diabetes provides a great opportunity to celebrate, and learn from, new ways of working to drive up quality of care. I’m impressed and inspired by the class and breadth of the award winners and finalists. It shows how many of those involved in the day-to-day care of people with diabetes go the extra mile to make meaningful improvements which empower people to self-manage their condition.”

The Quality in Care Diabetes 2019 Awards are supported by DRWF and means an initiative has been recognised by the NHS, patients and industry as improving the quality of life for people living with diabetes.
