Contacting the public
We raise awareness and money to support our work in a number of ways. We work within the requirements of the Data Protection Act and PECR regulations and take steps to ensure we do not contact members of the public registered with the Mailing Preference or Telephone Preference Service or those who have specifically asked us not to contact them. By post
We contact existing supporters and the general public by mailing charitable appeals using Legitimate Interest as our lawful basis for processing personal information. These campaigns are aimed at improving awareness of diabetes and public understanding, as well as generating funds to support our charitable objectives.
If we are mailing an appeal to prospective supporters of the charity, we may use an external list provider to enable us to reach a wider audience with our awareness raising materials. When this is the case, we will provide details of the organisation from whom we have obtained your information so that you can contact them directly should you not wish to hear from us again. You can also contact us directly to let us know your preferences.
We collect contact preferences from our supporters and beneficiaries to enable us to engage in ongoing communication through their preferred channels.
By telephone
From time to time we may contact existing supporters by telephone. This may be done by an in-house team or by using a specialist agency. If the latter option is employed, the agency will always identify itself as 'working on behalf of DRWF'. We do not call supporters that are not in an existing relationship with us nor do we call supporters who have specifically asked us not to do so.

How We Can Help at DRWF
Events
Each year we run events for people living with diabetes, ranging from educational workshops and wellness events, to fundraising marathons and group skydives. To find out more about our events and how we support people living with diabetes, please visit our Events Page.
Research
Since 1998 we have provided over £12 million of funding for medical research programmes, with the aim of finding a cure for all types of diabetes. In 2004, we made a significant commitment to Islet Cell Research and Transplant, a programme which focuses on the role of islet cells in diabetes. Fundraising
We rely on our amazing donors who raise the funds that help support people living with diabetes across the UK, as well as funding our vital research programmes.
