Dinosaur with type 1 diabetes offers young readers a quirky take on diabetes
Did you read about the dinosaur diagnosed with diabetes?
A fun, quirky and informative children’s picture book follows the tale of a dinosaur learning to live their life with type 1 diabetes.
The Diabetic Dinosaur by author Harry Edmanson covers the changes and challenges involved following a type 1 diabetes diagnosis in an approachable way.
Harry was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes as a teenager and said he aimed to help children understand and come to terms with the condition.
Harry said: “The fear and confusion I experienced when I was diagnosed is what has inspired me to write this book. I thought if, at 13, I had felt that lost, scared and isolated what must it be like for younger children?
“I wrote this book in the hope that it will help children to understand their new lives with diabetes and that it will help them to cope by having a colourful, brave and loveable character to relate to. I also hope it will help them to realise they are not alone in their diagnosis.”
The Diabetic Dinosaur is available now through Troubador publishing
