Throughout this October a free will writing service will be available – through which you can also support your favourite charity.

Free Wills Month is available to individuals, or couples, aged 55 and over, and offers the opportunity to a have a simple Will written or updated free of charge.

Available from 1st October, Free Wills Month uses local solicitors in selected areas around the UK.

A statement from Free Wills Month said: “Free Wills Month brings together a group of well-respected charities to offer members of the public aged 55 and over the opportunity to have their simple Wills written or updated free of charge by using solicitors in selected locations across the UK.

“An up-to-date Will written by a solicitor ensures your wishes are respected. It also avoids difficult decisions and legal complications for your loved ones. Free Wills Month allows you to provide for family and friends and leave a gift to your chosen charities too.

“The solicitor will help to draw up a Will that accurately reflects the wishes of the individual or couple. Those taking up the offer are under no obligation to leave a gift to one of the Free Wills Month charities, however, we earnestly hope that many will see this as a chance to help their favourite cause.”

How do I take part?

From 1st October visit the Free Wills Month website or call 0333 022 0396 for details of participating solicitors near you.

Make an appointment during October with your chosen solicitor, quoting Free Wills Month.

Appointments for Free Wills Month are limited, so we recommend that you book yours as soon as you can. The offer finishes once all the appointments are booked up, which can be before the month ends.

What a gift to DRWF can do

Although there is no obligation to remember DRWF in your Will, we hope you will consider the huge difference a gift in your Will can make.

Your gift will enable us to continue supporting vital research and running our Diabetes Educational Wellness Event Programmes, in addition to providing much needed support and advice to people living with all forms of diabetes.

Claire Levy, DRWF PR and Communications, who is also living with type 2 diabetes said: “Funding research into new treatments and new technologies has transformed the lives of people living with all forms of diabetes, including myself as someone with type 2 diabetes.

“DRWF has funded some amazing research over the last 25 years, made possible by the very generous donations of our supporters, which has really advanced our knowledge of the different types of diabetes and how to manage and treat it. We will only find a cure through research and your gift could make all the difference.”

Leaving a ‘gift of hope’ in your Will

When making your Will, your first thought will be for taking care of family and friends. Following which, you might like to consider leaving a gift to a favoured charity or cause close to your heart, thereby leaving a gift of hope for future generations.

Many charities, that exist on donations and voluntary income, could not survive without the wonderful gifts that are left to them in Wills, and DRWF is no exception.

With your help, we are investing in a brighter future for people with diabetes. Just imagine, your last gift could be the beginning of someone else’s future.
