Spotlight on DRWF Trustees
During Trustees’ Week we highlight the work of DRWF Trustees in supporting the charity to achieve its aims.
This week, DRWF is joining charity organisations across the UK in celebrating the work of our dedicated Board of Trustees – for Trustees’ Week, running from 3–7 November.
A statement from Trustees’ Week said: “Trustees’ Week is a time for us to come together to celebrate the achievements of nearly one million trustees across the UK. Thank you for the time, commitment and effort you bring to your charities to help them thrive.
“We look forward to celebrating, supporting and inspiring trustees.”

Adrian Durelli, who recently joined DRWF as a Trustee, said: “I have had the privilege of serving as a trustee of DRWF for the past year. It has been a true honour to contribute to such a meaningful organisation and cause. DRWF stands out as a leader in the pursuit of a cure for a disease that affects millions globally.
“Bringing my background in healthcare administration to support the DRWF team has been both humbling and rewarding. I am inspired by the dedication and innovation that drives their mission forward.
“I look forward to continuing my support and closely following the promising research currently underway. I firmly believe that the work being done by this exceptional team will one day lead to a cure – while also improving the lives of those living with the condition today.”

Steve Jones, Managing Director at Skills for Business and DRWF Trustee, said: “I have been a trustee with DRWF for almost six years now, and it has been an absolute privilege. The work the charity does is truly inspiring and, having first been involved as a client of mine, it has been a real pleasure to stay on and witness the organisation continue to flourish.
“What stands out most to me is the incredible team in the UK, they consistently punch above their weight and deliver such meaningful impact for those living with diabetes.
“Being part of that journey and supporting the cause has been both rewarding and humbling.”
Sarah Tutton, Chief Executive at DRWF, said: “Trustees’ Week is a great way to show our thanks to our wider diabetes community as well as encourage others to consider becoming trustees and the rewards that it brings.”
DRWF was established in the USA in 1993 and subsequently launched in the UK five years later. The US founders dedicated their professional and personal lives to raising funds to support diabetes research after their children were diagnosed with type 1 diabetes more than 35 years ago. Whilst the landscape of diabetes has changed enormously over that time, we have stayed true to our mission of supporting people in their daily self-management, and funding the research that we hope will one day find a cure. In addition to research the charity provides support and advice to help people living with all types of diabetes to stay well until a cure is found.
The DRWF Board of Trustees is an engaged and committed group of individuals who bring a significant level of expertise to the governance of the charity in the fields of business strategy and management, international fundraising, healthcare and education.
