Study recruitment: How to improve support for people living with type 2 diabetes and heart conditions
Research looks to examine support available from experiences of people living with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Researchers are looking for adults (aged 18-plus) based in the UK and living with type 2 diabetes, a cardiovascular condition (e.g. heart disease, stroke), or both conditions for a new study.
This study aims to explore how people living with type 2 diabetes and/or cardiovascular conditions experience the support they receive for managing their health.
The study will look at whether there are gaps between what people with these conditions feel they need and what is currently provided.
The research also plans to examine how these experiences relate to quality of life and individuals’ ability to manage their health.
Researchers said the aim of the finding will be to inform improvements to future support and services.
The study, entitled: Exploring whether people with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease get the support they need from healthcare services, is being conducted by Joseph Range, Health Psychology Doctoral Researcher at Liverpool John Moores University and an NHS Health and Wellbeing Coach.
Joseph said: “I am currently conducting an ethically approved study exploring the experiences of individuals living with type 2 diabetes, particularly how people perceive the support they receive and how this relates to quality of life and self-management.”
The study involves completing an online survey (approximately 15–20 minutes) and is open to adults living with type 2 diabetes. Participation is anonymous and voluntary, with optional entry into a £50 Amazon voucher prize draw.

NOTE: DRWF will from time-to-time advise readers of ‘calls to participate’ in diabetes and related health research studies. It should not necessarily be considered that the charity is in any way connected to the study or the group issuing the call for participants. If we are involved in any way, we will make this known. We will only share external calls where we have confirmed that the study holds ethics committee approval, and the study is specific to diabetes and related health. Taking part in a medical research study is a big step and further helpful information can be found via the National Institute for Health and Care Research Clinical Trials Guide.
