Study recruitment: Survey on weight management journey during and after pregnancy in women living with diabetes
University research projects looking for mothers to share their experiences of diet around pregnancy.
Researchers from Nutrition Innovation Centre for Food and Health (NICHE), Ulster University would like to invite women living with diabetes to participate in an online survey on experiences of weight management during and after pregnancy.
Researchers said: “This survey will help inform the development of future resources to support women following pregnancy.
“We would be grateful if you could complete this anonymous online survey which is estimated to take 8–10 minutes.”
The study is led by Samantha McCombe as part of her PhD project at the university, who said: “I am recruiting women aged 18 years and above who live with type 1, type 2 or diagnosed with gestational diabetes during their last pregnancy and who has had a baby within the last three years to complete an online, anonymous survey investigating woman’s experience of their weight journey during and after pregnancy.
“As someone living with type 1 diabetes for 28 years, I am highly passionate about making a difference for women living with diabetes and postpartum.”
The study has been approved by the School of Biomedical Sciences Research Ethics Filter Committee. Participation in this survey is voluntary.

NOTE: DRWF will from time-to-time advise readers of ‘calls to participate’ in diabetes and related health research studies. It should not necessarily be considered that the charity is in any way connected to the study or the group issuing the call for participants. If we are involved in any way, we will make this known. We will only share external calls where we have confirmed that the study holds ethics committee approval, and the study is specific to diabetes and related health. Taking part in a medical research study is a big step and further helpful information can be found via the National Institute for Health and Care Research Clinical Trials Guide.
