Researchers looking for people with type 2 diabetes using continuous glucose monitoring devices.

People living with type 2 diabetes who are using continuous glucose monitoring devices (CGM) to help with self-management of their condition are being sought for a new study.

Researchers particularly want to understand more about the use of devices (e.g. the FreeStyle Libre 3 CGM system) to improve glucose levels in people living with type 2 diabetes, compared to using blood glucose test strips to monitor glucose levels.

The research is being conducted by a team of diabetes specialists within the NHS and is sponsored by Abbott Diabetes Care.

The one-year study will include questionnaires and regular reviews with a diabetes specialist to monitor and assess diabetes management.

Volunteers can decide whether to have study visits in the clinic, at home, or virtually.

Following application, if you are chosen to take part in the study you will be asked to give blood samples, attend regular reviews and complete questionnaires.

You will be reimbursed for time and travel costs associated with attending study visits. Participation in this study is entirely your choice and you are free to decide not to take part or to withdraw from the study at any time without having to give a reason.

NOTE:
DRWF will from time-to-time advise readers of ‘calls to participate’ in diabetes and related health research studies. It should not necessarily be considered that the charity is in any way connected to the study or the group issuing the call for participants. If we are involved in any way, we will make this known. We will only share external calls where we have confirmed that the study holds ethics committee approval, and the study is specific to diabetes and related health. Taking part in a medical research study is a big step and further helpful information can be found via the National Institute for Health and Care Research
Clinical Trials Guide.
