Second annual peer-support event provides opportunity to share experiences and meet people living with type 1 diabetes.

Generating discussion and new thinking through shared experience for people living with type 1 diabetes will be the focus of an event to support and empower those with the condition to achieve their potential and live well.

Talking About Diabetes (TAD) aims to bring together people who have inspirational stories to share in the context of living with type 1 diabetes.

The event hopes to inspire people living with the condition to think differently about diabetes; removing barriers and harnessing innovation and new technologies.

For the second year running, Talking About Diabetes returns on Saturday 28th June, at the Everyman Theatre, Hope Street, Liverpool. The event is free to attend and will include lunch and mid-session snacks.

Event organiser Dr Reza Zaidi, Consultant Diabetologist at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Royal Liverpool University Hospital), said: “This is a national peer-support event and involves inspirational ‘TED Talk’-styled presentations from people living with type 1 diabetes from a variety of professional and ethnic backgrounds.

“In the previous years, speakers have included actors, sports personalities, politicians, entertainers, parents and children – all sharing their stories of navigating type 1 diabetes in their lives. This year, speakers include those using hybrid closed loop therapy, health care professionals, athletes, actors and other advocates with type 1 diabetes.”

If you are interested in hearing inspirational stories and/or meeting other people with type 1 diabetes, register to attend here before 20th May
